How does the AI transcription work?
VHF Shark™ automatically transcribes voice transmissions in real-time using advanced AI speech recognition. Each subscription includes 150,000 seconds (41+ hours) of transcription monthly. The system only transcribes actual voice content - silence and noise don't count toward your usage.
What happens if I exceed my transcription allowance?
If you exceed the included 150,000 seconds, additional transcription is automatically billed at $15 per 75,000 seconds (about 20+ hours). This works out to just $0.012 per minute - far less expensive than manual transcription services which typically cost $1-3 per minute.
Why isn't transcription unlimited?
AI transcription requires significant computational resources and processing power, which creates real costs for every second transcribed. Our generous 150,000-second monthly allowance covers the vast majority of customers' needs while keeping subscription costs affordable for everyone. The usage-based model ensures fair pricing - light users aren't subsidizing heavy users, and heavy users pay proportionally for the extra resources they consume. This approach allows us to offer enterprise-grade transcription quality at a fraction of traditional transcription service costs.
How does the monitoring system work?
VHF Shark™ continuously monitors all VHF channels in real-time. When a transmission is detected, it automatically records the audio, transcribes the speech, and uploads everything to our secure cloud servers where you can access it through our web interface.
Can I search through transcribed conversations?
Yes! One of the biggest advantages of AI transcription is powerful search capabilities. You can search through all your transcribed conversations to quickly find specific incidents, vessel names, or topics - saving hours of manual review time.
What are the system requirements?
VHF Shark™ is a standalone device that only requires power and an internet connection. There's no need for additional hardware or complex setup procedures.
How long are recordings stored?
Recordings and transcriptions are stored as long as you maintain an active subscription for the device. If the subscription lapses for more than 1 year, recordings will be removed. All data is securely stored in the cloud with automatic backup.
Is there a limit to the number of channels?
No, VHF Shark™ can monitor all VHF channels simultaneously without any limitations. You never have to worry about missing transmissions on any channel.
What about the return policy?
We offer a 30-day return policy with a 15% restocking fee. The product must be in its original condition with all accessories and packaging included.
How secure is the cloud storage?
We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data. All transmissions between the device and our servers are encrypted, and data is stored in secure cloud facilities.
Can multiple users access the system?
Yes, users can share invite codes that allow others to view and listen to the recordings and transcriptions. This makes it easy to share access with your team or organization.
